The journey of Bangladesh Fighter Karate Association started when our Grandmaster Ostad Jahangir Alam stepped foot in Yangon, Myanmar. He had been travelling to Myanmar with his father for trade purposes from Ukhiya, Bangladesh. Due to staying there for a long term, he had the opportunity to learn and train in martial arts at the Yanking Fighter Karate Club under the mentorship of Myo Aung and Myo Tin (they were trained from Japan). He started his training in the year 1966. During his period of training, he became grand champion in a single tournament, received his black belt and by the year 1970-71, he had achieved 8th dan. He was noted as a prodigy. He returned to his motherland and established the first Bangladesh Fighter Karate Club at Cox’s Bazar Government College in the year 1972. His aim was to spread martial arts and karate to the people of the nation.
After a couple of years, he moved to Chittagong, where he started teaching his style there by establishing the CCGAB Bangladesh Fighter Karate Club at Chittagong Stadium in the year 1974.
Having provided training at a local level, our Grandmaster had become renowned. With the goal of teaching at a national level, he moved to Dhaka. A memorable event was when he was appointed as our country’s first National Karate Coach via the Judo-Karate Federation in the year 1978-79. In fact, he was the one who corrected and advised the federation to change their incorrect spelling. Initially, it was called the Judo-Karat Federation, but after his correction, it became the Judo-Karate Federation.
In 1980, he opened another Bangladesh Fighter Karate Club at Puran Dhaka, Wari’s Graduates High School, where the first national Bangladesh Fighter Karate Championship was held.
Through this school and it’s students, Bangladesh Fighter Karate Club spread throughout the nation, Khulna, Jessore, Dinajpur, Syedpur, Rangpur, Cumilla and many other districts.
With the intention to spread martial arts in the nation, he came to the film industry as an action director/choreographer, he taught many actors and actress, such as Masud Parvez Sohel Rana, Masum Parvez Rubel, Elias Kanchan, Misha Sawadgar, Noor Mohommad Khaled, Bobita, Rozina, Alexandar Bo, Romana Islam Mukti, Abdul Latif Cheetah and many more. Afterwards he became actor, director, and producer. Through his films and Bangladesh Fighter Karate Club, he spread martial arts all over Bangladesh and bought a revolution to Bangladesh Film’s Action genre.
